Quality Assurance

Amdel Limited’s laboratories use a four-tiered approach to quality assurance:

Quality Management System - Based on and accredited to ISO 9001, Amdel's Quality Management System provides the backbone of careful and documented management practices. Amdel Limited was the first laboratory in Australia to achieve this level of quality.

Technical excellence and innovation - methods are developed on the latest available equipment, such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS and XRF. Analytical techniques are verified and registered with premier Australian and New Zealand independent testing authorities (NATA and TELARC). Our laboratories carries NATA accreditation on a number of tests and all our laboratories are operated to the standards of ISO17025 “General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories” to which NATA accredits.

External and internal lab comparisons – Amdel Limited willingly participates in a number of analytical “round robins”. These include:
- Geostats
- Ore Research.

Laboratory quality control – Amdel Limited is a leader in the application of statistical quality control. All samples are analysed with reagent blanks and reference materials. Replicates, duplicates and second splits complete a rigid quality control regime.

ISO 9001 Quality System

Our policy is to fully satisfy the requirements of all our customers. Because these may differ markedly we have chosen as our model system the international standard, which is accepted in over eighty countries, AS/NZS ISO 9001-2000.

Our system is based on controls of operational techniques and activities that enable each person to be responsible for the quality of their work, with a system for producing evidence that all work requirements have been met. This evidence is in a form that complies with international standards and can be audited against those standards by a third party.

It is possible that particular customer requirements may not be able to be met by AS/NZS ISO 9001. In such cases a quality plan to meet the requirements is drawn up to supplement the system.
